Current Off-Campus Students
How do I prepare my Program of Study?
The first step is to identify a supervisory committee. Your advisor is the Major Professor and you will have to contact two other faculty members asking if they will serve on your committee. For more information please view the link 'Guidelines for ECE Distance Students' on this page.
Once the committee is determined, you can complete the program of study by listing the coursework on the front page. The form is available on the Graduate School's website:http://www.k-state.edu/grad/academics/docs/forms/m-pos.pdf
How do I submit my Program of Study?
Once you have filled out your Program of Study, email a scanned copy with your signature to Rachel Robillard, firstname.lastname@example.org. This should be done upon completion of your first 9 credit hours.
The ECE office will obtain the signatures of your supervisory committee members and submit to the Graduate School. You will receive an email from the Graduate School once it has been approved.
What does the final oral examination cover?
During the last semester of your classes you are encouraged to visit the campus for the final oral exam. We usually ask the students to prepare a presentation on a project you have done as part of your work and is related to the courses you took for your degree. The presentation should be 30 to 40 minutes long. Be prepared to answer questions related to the presentation and general questions related to your courses.
How do I set up my final oral examination?
Contact your committee members with a few proposed time frames. Once a date and time has been agreed upon, ask Rachel to find a room for your exam. Then fill out the approval to schedule final examination form: http://www.k-state.edu/grad/academics/docs/forms/approval-masters.pdf and email to Rachel (email@example.com) for signatures. Please submit this form at least a few weeks prior to your exam.
