Admission Information
Students seeking admission to graduate programs in the Mike Wiegers Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering for summer or fall semester admission should begin the application process during the previous November to December, or, for spring semester admission, during the previous July to August.
As a general guideline, students applying to the program should have a minimum of a 3.0/4.0 cumulative GPA, or their last 60 hours should be a 3.0/4.0. In special circumstances, students with a 2.8/4.0 will be considered on a provisional basis, if space is available.
Limited numbers of Graduate Research Assistantships (GRA) and Graduate Teaching Assistantships (GTA) are available on a competitive basis. No additional application materials are required. Students will be evaluated for assistantship support at the time of evaluation for admission.
Visit the Graduate School's website to review the application process and requirements before you begin your online application.
Note: The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is required for admission (Institution Code: 6334, Department Code: 1203). The minimum GRE scores required to be considered for admission to the ECE Graduate Program are as follows: Verbal – 145; Quantitative – 155; Analytical – 3.0. If you have graduated from an accredited institution with a baccalaureate degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or closely related field within two years, this can be waived.
