Deepesh Agarwal (Ph.D.)
Deepesh Agarwal received his B.Tech. degree in Electrical Engineering from Nirma University, Gujarat, India in 2018 and M.Tech. degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar in 2020. After M.Tech., he was working as a Junior Research Fellow at IIT Gandhinagar. He joined CPSWin group in Spring 2021 as a Ph.D. student. His research interests include cyber-physical human systems and application of machine learning techniques to address problems in electrical and biological systems. He dedicates his leisure time towards watching movies, communicating with friends, and traveling.
Biswajeet Rout (Ph.D.)
Biswajeet Rout has completed his B.Tech from Biju Pattnaik University of Technology, Odisha, and M.Tech from Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar in Electrical Engineering in the year 2012 and 2018, respectively. After M.Tech., he joined Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore as a project associate. He was also working as field application engineer in OPAL-RT Technology, India, before joining the CPSWin group as a PhD student in spring 2021. His research interest includes modeling, optimization, and dynamic state estimation in active distribution network. Biswajeet spends his leisure time in watching movies and reading books.
Dylan Wheeler (Ph.D.)
Dylan received his M.S. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Kansas State University in 2021, his B.S. degree in Engineering from Ottawa University, Kansas in 2018 and his A.S. degree from Highland Community College, Kansas in 2015, competing on both schools’ football teams during his undergraduate studies. He began work towards his Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering at K-State in the fall of 2021. He joined the CPSWin group in the spring of 2020 and his research interests include semantic communications, IoT, and artificial intelligence/machine learning for wireless communications. In his free time, he enjoys reading books, exercising, cooking, and being outdoors.
Aabila Tharzeen (Ph.D.)
Aabila received her B.Tech. degree in Electrical and Electronics from College of Engineering Trivandrum, India in 2016 and M.Tech. in Electrical Engineering in 2021 from Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar, India. After M.Tech., she worked as a project associate for a few months at Indian Institute of Technology Madras, India. She joined the CPSWin group as a Ph.D. student in Spring 2022. Her research interests include the application of graph machine learning techniques to tackle problems related to in-body cyber-physical systems. She spends her leisure time reading, watching movies, and listening to music.
Prudhviraj Dhanapala (Ph.D.)
Prudhvi received his B.Tech. degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from JNTU College of Engineering Pulivendula, India, in 2014, and his M.Tech. degree in Electrical Engineering from IIT Gandhinagar, India, in 2018. Before joining the CPSWin group in the Fall of 2022 as a Ph.D. student, Prudhvi worked for Digital Solutions PT&D at Larsen and Toubro, India, and his last role was R&D lead engineer. He developed industrial grade large scale grid integrated solar power plant and battery energy storage system controllers for smart grid applications. His research interests are state estimation, control and optimization, and machine learning techniques to improve resiliency and power quality in smart grids. Prudhvi enjoys playing cricket, badminton, and board games in his free time.
Priyanka Gautam (Ph.D.)
Priyanka Gautam received her B.Tech Degree in Computer Science from Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Uttar Pradesh in 2016 and her MTech in Computer Science and Engineering in 2019 from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar, Gujrat in India. She has professional industry experience of 3+ years as a Data scientist where she worked in the finance banking domain & HR analytics. She worked for eClerx Ltd. and Accenture AI. She joined the CSPWin lab in the Fall of 2022 as a PhD student. She worked on problems related to object detection, crowd Monitoring in surveillance systems, HR Analytics and Text extraction automation. Her PhD research interests include Graph machine learning, Complex network system, Robustness of Critical Infrastructure & Interdependent systems and resilience analysis in such systems. She is also working on Influence maximization problems and is interested in humans in the loop and Intelligent Augmentation. After work, she dedicates her time to hitting the gym, reading self-help books, and spending time with friends and family.
Rakhul Kumar (Ph.D.)
Rakhul received his B.E. degree in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering from Anna University, Chennai, India, in 2023. He then worked as a project associate for a few months at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. Rakhul joined the CPSWin group as a Ph.D. student in the spring of 2024. His research interests include biomedical signal processing and instrumentation systems. In his leisure time, Rakhul enjoys composing short music tracks, playing badminton, soccer, and cooking.
Adwaitha Pradeep (Ph.D.)
Adwaitha Pradeep received her M.Tech degree in Construction Technology and Management from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras in 2023 in succession to her B.Tech degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from T.K.M. College of Engineering, Kollam affiliated to the Kalam Technological University, Kerala in 2021. After her master’s degree, she joined Larsen & Toubro Constructions Pvt. Ltd as a Senior Electrical Engineer, where she managed and supervised the implementation of a 400 kV GIS Substation project of KPTCL (Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited) on site in Peenya, Bangalore. She joined CPSWin group in Spring 2024 as a doctoral student. Her research interests include power system stability analysis, control and optimization techniques using ML, transient studies, microgrid planning and modelling, cyber resiliency and cyber security of power systems. Her leisure time interests include reading, practising dance and music, anchoring cultural and literary programmes, watching sports events and gardening.

Rahul Madbhavi (2023 - Present)
Rahul Madbhavi received his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the National Institute of Technology Karnataka in 2016. He then worked as a big data developer at Wipro Technologies, Bangalore. He is pursuing his doctoral research at the Department of Applied Mechanics, Indian Institute of Technology Madras, and is waiting to defend his thesis. Rahul joined the CPSWin group in the summer of 2019 as a short-term visiting scholar and has been working as a Research Associate since summer 2023. His interests include graph machine learning, state estimation, and cyber-physical systems. In his free time, he enjoys cycling, board games, solving puzzles, and coding.
Amulya Sreejith (2023 - present)
Amulya Sreejith received her B.Tech. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Calicut, India, in 2014, M.Tech. degree in power systems from Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur, India, in 2017 and her PhD in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Chennai, India. Prior to joining at Kansas State University, she worked as a R&D scientist at Gridsentry. She joined the CPSWin group as a Postdoc in January 2023. Her research interests include power system control and optimization, cyber-security of power systems, and reliability analysis for power distribution systems. In her free time, she enjoys reading, playing sports, and writing.
James Ranjith Kumar. R (2021 - 2023)
James Ranjith Kumar. R did his PhD program at the National University of Singapore in 2021. He has a B.E. degree in Electrical & Electronics Engg. from Anna University, Chennai in 2009 and an M.E. degree in Electrical Engg. from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in 2014. Prior to his PhD, he worked as Engineering Officer at Central Power Research Institute, India, and as a senior engineer at Larsen and Toubro Ltd., India.

Mohammad Abujubbeh (Ph.D.)
Mohammad Abujubbeh received his B.Sc. in Electrical & Electronic Engineering (power systems) from Eastern Mediterranean University, Famagusta, Cyprus in 2016. Before joining CPSWin group, he was a M.Sc. student of Sustainable Environment and Energy Systems at Middle East Technical University, Northern Cyprus Campus from 2017 to 2019. Mohammad continued his studies and joined CPSWin group in spring 2020 as a Ph.D. student. His research interests include cyber-physical systems, renewable energy integration, probabilistic voltage and loss sensitivity analysis and IoT-enabled smart grids. In his free time, Mohammad enjoys playing sports, reading ancient history and cooking.
Shweta Dahale (Ph.D)
Shweta Dahale received her B.Tech. degree in Electrical Engineering from College of Engineering, Pune, India, in 2016, and the M.Tech. degree in Electrical Engineering from IIT Gandhinagar, India, in 2018. After MTech, Shweta was working as a control engineer in Bombardier Transportation, India. She joined the CPSWin group in Spring 2020 as a Ph.D. student. Her research interests include optimization, machine learning, and state estimation in smart grids. In her free time, Shweta enjoys playing badminton and cooking.
Sai Munikoti (Ph.D.)
Sai Munikoti received his B.E. degree in Electrical Engineering from Birsa Institute of Technology, Sindri in 2015 and M.Tech degree from Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar, India in 2018. Then, he worked at the R&D center of eclerx services Ltd. Mumbai, India for one year. Sai continued his research and joined CPSWin group in Fall 2019 as a Ph.D. student. His research interests span areas of graph machine learning, resilience analysis and cyber-physical systems including the smart grid. During leisure, Sai likes to read tech and auto blogs.
Hazhar Sufi Karimi (Ph.D.)
Hazhar received his B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering (control) from Sahand University of Technology, Tabriz, Iran, in 2012. He was M.Sc. student of Control Theory in Tarbiat Modares University, Tehran, Iran, from September 2012 to October 2014. He joined CPSWin group in Fall 2016 as a Ph.D. student. His research interests include stochastic systems, state estimation and control theory, especially for cyber-physical systems. In his free time, Hazhar enjoys reading poems, listening to music and playing sport. He is currently a research associate at Harvard Medical School.
Alaleh Alivar (Ph.D.)
Alaleh received her bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Shiraz University, Shiraz, Iran in 2011. She was a master's student in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (Communication) at Shiraz University of Technology (SUTech), Shiraz, Iran from 2012 to 2014. Alaleh joined CPSWin group in Spring 2016, and is currently working towards her doctoral research in biomedical and statistical signal processing. In free time, she enjoys cooking, playing badminton, shopping, and traveling. After completing her doctoral degree in 2019, she is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at Kessler Foundation & Rutgers New Jersey Medical School.
Reza Barazideh (Ph.D.)
Reza Barazideh received his B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology (Tehran Polytechnic), Tehran, Iran in 2006. He was M.Sc. student of telecommunication engineering at shahed university, Tehran, Iran from 2006 to 2009. After M.Sc, he has been working as a Radio Network Planning and Optimization (RNPO) Engineer in Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd, MCCI (Mobile Communication Company of Iran) and MTN Irancell (Mobile Telecommunication Network) for 5 years. He has joined CPSWin group since spring 2016 as a Ph.D student and is working on Impulsive Noise mitigation in communication. His research interests include wireless communication, estimation and detection theory and signal processing. In free time Reza enjoys watching movies, running, playing soccer and traveling. He is currently at Vivint Networks.
Kumar Jhala (Ph.D.)
A CPSWin member since Fall 2013, Kumar received his bachelor's degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering in 2013, from Gujarat Technological University, Gujarat, India. In the summer of 2012 while pursuing his undergraduate studies he visited Kansas State University. In Summer 2015, he got his Master's degree in Electrical Engineering. His M.S.c research is on Coordinated Electric Vehicle Charging Solution, Convex Optimization and Optimal Control. Currently, he is continuing his Ph.D. research in active consumer modeling for power system. His broad research interests are in Wireless Communication systems, Computer Networks, and MIMO systems. In his free time, Kumar enjoys hiking, traveling, photography and playing soccer. He also is the President of the Indian Students' Association (ISA) here at Kansas State University.
Solmaz Niknam (Ph.D.)
Solmaz Niknam received her B.Sc. degree (1st class honor) in Electrical Engineering from Shiraz University of Technology (SUTech), Shiraz, Iran in 2010. From July 2010 to September 2012, she was a master's student at Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST), Tehran, Iran. After graduating from IUST, she has been working as a Radio/Transmission Planning Engineer in Taliya Mobile, the first pre-paid operator in Iran. Solmaz has joined CPSWin group since fall 2015 and is currently working toward his Ph.D. research on sparse signal processing in the context of Massive MIMO systems for 5G wireless systems. Her research interest is in the area of wireless communication. In free time Solmaz enjoys watching movies, playing basketball and traveling. She is currently at Qualcomm, Inc.
Wenji Zhang (Ph.D.)
Wenji received her bachelor's degree in Communications Engineering from University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) in 2014. She joined CPSWin Group in Fall 2014, and is currently working towards her Ph.D research in state estimation, system control for stochastic hybrid system, and she is also interested in applying formal verification technique into stochastic hybrid system model checking problem. In free time, she likes cooking, shopping, watching TV drama, work out, and travel. She is currently working at ChangeHealthcare.
Hammad Aljaloud (M.S)
Hammad received his bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), Saudi Arabia in 2009. From 2009 to 2011, he worked as a Process Control Engineer at Saudi Iron and Steel Company. In 2012, he began his Master program in Engineering Management at The University of Kansas, and graduated in 2014. Hammad joined CPSWin group in Spring 2015 and is currently working toward his Ph.D. research on 5G wireless systems. In free time, he enjoys working out, running, watching soccer matches, and traveling.
Liu Chang (Ph.D.)
Chang received her bachelor's degree of Communication Engineering in 2009 and master's degree of Communication and Information systems in 2012 from Jilin University (JLU), China. Chang joined the CPSWin group in Fall 2012 and is currently working towards her Ph.D. research in Energy Aware Management of Heterogeneous Networks. Her broad research interests are in Convex Optimization, Optimal Control Theory, Statistical Signal Processing and Wireless Communication systems. In free time Chang enjoys reading detective fictions and watching cartoons.
Kan Chen (Ph.D.)
Kan received his bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Wuhan University, China in 2010, and Master of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken, NJ in 2012 respectively. In fall of 2012, he joined CPSWin Group and is currently working towards his Ph.D. research in Security of Wireless Communication, especially in Physical Layer. In free time Kan enjoys outdoor activities, traveling and all kinds of sports. He is a data scientist at Amazon.
S M Shafiul Alam (Ph.D.)
Shafiul received his B.Sc. degree in 2008 and M.Sc. degree in 2011 from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Bangladesh. From 2008 to 2011, he was a Lecturer of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department of BUET. At the end of 2011 he was promoted to the position of Assistant Professor. Shafiul joined the CPSWin group in Spring 2012 and completed his Ph.D. in "Multi-Agent Estimation and Control of Cyber-Physical Systems." in Fall 2015. He is currently working as Postdoctoral Research Associate at Idaho National Laboratory (INL), Idaho Falls ID. His broad research interests are in Compressed Sensing, Statistical Signal Processing and Smart Grid. In free time Shafiul enjoys watching movies and reading novels.
Dale Scutti (M.S.)
Dale received his bachelor's in Electrical Engineering in 2014 at KSU and is currently pursuing his master's degree at K-State. He is part of a joint project between K-State and AvaTekh Inc researching nonlinear filters for impulsive noise and interference. As an intern he has done electronics hardware engineering for Garmin and Novatech in Kansas City. His broad research interests include: wireless communications systems, power line communications, signal processing, and noise modeling. In his free time Dale enjoys trying/cooking new food, cycling, playing piano, Halo and anything to do with Neil DeGrasse Tyson.
Mohammed Taj-Eldin (Ph.D.)
Mohammed received his bachelor's degree in Informatics Engineering from University of Aleppo, Syria in 2008, and Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Florida Institute of Technology, Florida in 2011 respectively. Mohammed joined CPSWin Group in Fall 2011 and completed his Ph.D. in Spring 2015. His Ph.D. research is in Intra-Suit Wireless Link Propagation for Astronauts. His broad research interests are in Wireless Communication systems, Computer Networks, Wireless Sensor Networks, Body Area Networks and Electromagnetic Interaction with Human Body. In free time, Mohammed enjoys swimming, running and playing soccer with friends.
Chenyu Zheng (M.S.)
Chenyu received his bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Kansas State University in 2012. Chenyu joined CPSWin Group in Summer 2014 and is currently working towards his M.S. research in Medium Accesses Control (MAC) layer design for wireless body area network (WBAN) with only energy harvesting sources. His broad research interests are in Wireless Communication systems, energy harvesting system, transceiver design, and digital signal processing (DSP). In free time Chenyu enjoys playing table tennis, tennis, and badminton. He also enjoys reading novels and watching TV.
Sayak Bose (Ph.D.)
Sayak Bose received his B.Tech. degree from Kalyani University in India in 2003 and M.S. degree from University of Kansas, USA in 2009. He worked as an Assistant systems Engineer at Tata Consultancy Services, India for over three years. Currently he is pursuing a Ph.D. degree from Kansas State University, USA. His research interests are communication theory and systems, optimized reconfiguration analysis, sensor placement and network control. He is a student member of IEEE. He basically works all the time except when visiting his lovely wife, so he does not really have time for additional interests.
Nick Roseveare (Ph.D.)
Nick received his bachelor's and master's degrees at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado in 2005 and 2007, respectively. His master's thesis focused on optimal array processing algorithms for Direction of Arrival (DOA) estimation with application to unattended acoustic sensors. Nick worked for a small local company in Loveland, Colorado from 2007 to 2009 which developed algorithms. and software for localization, data association, and tracking. He did his Ph.D. research in distributed estimation which draws on the fields of estimation, convex optimization, and analysis His broad research interests include array processing, statistical signal processing, and optimization for communication and control. Nick enjoys ultimate frisbee, raquetball, rock climbing, swimming and doing fun math problems.
Siddharth Deshmukh (Ph.D.)
Siddharth received his B.E. degree from NIT Raipur India in 2004, and M.Tech. degree from IIT Delhi India in 2006 respectively. From 2006 to 2010, he worked as Research Engineer in Center for Development of Telematics Bangalore India, and has experience of design and implementation satellite and cellular modems. Siddharth Joined CPSWin group in Fall 2010 and is currently working towards his Ph.D. research in Network Control Theory Applied to Distributed Generation in Power systems. His broad research interests are in Network Control theory, Optimization concepts, Statistical Signal Processing, and Communication systems. In free time Siddharth enjoys watching Sci-fi movies, playing Badminton and cooking Indian dishes.
Mohammad Reza Sanatkar (M.S.)
Mohammad received his Bs. degree from Ferdowsi University of Mashhad in 2006, and M.S. degree from Polytechnic University of Tehran in 2009 respectively. His master's thesis focused on scalability of wireless sensor networks. From 2007 to 2010, he worked as Research and Developer in Nedapardaz Informatics Inc, Iran, and has experience in design and implementation Digital Signal Processing systems. Mohammad Joined CPSWin group in Fall 2010. His broad research interests are in Wireless Communications, Statistical Signal Processing, Control Theory, Epidemic Networks, and Graph Theory. In free time Mohammad enjoys playing soccer and cooking Iranian dishes. Mohammad finished his master's in 2012 and is now a communications Ph.D. student at Texas A&M University in College Station.
Allison Day (M.S.)
Allison earned her bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Kansas State University in 2007. After graduating, she worked for John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group developing GPS solutions for agricultural equipment. While there she worked in UI design and embedded software development and testing. She returned to K-State to join the CPSWin group in fall 2010. She finished her Master's degree in image processing through work with the Kansas Department of Transportation in Fall of 2011. Her research interests are computer vision, image processing, and control systems. In her free time Ally likes to travel, watch movies, and spend time with family and friends. Ally is now employed by Applied Research Associates at the AFRL at Tyndall AFB.
Avik Sengupta (M.S.)
Avik is currently working towards his master's degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering in Kansas State University. He received his bachelor's Degree in Electronics in 2010, from St.Thomas' College of Engineering and Technology, Kolkata, India. He is currently researching on MIMO Wireless Communication systems and Convex Optimization . His research interests also include Signal/Image Processing and some yet unexplored interest in Neural Networks. Avik enjoys playing Guitar, Photography, Driving and Sketching apart from playing Cricket.
Boran Lu (M.S.)
Boran received his bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering form Huazhong University of Science and Technology(HUST) in 2006. Currently, he is pursuing a master's degree at K-State. He is doing research on the reconfiguration and optimizatoion of hybrid electric vehicle power systems. Boran has other hobbies and interests, but is keeping them a secret.
Ahmad Ababnah
Ahmad is currently working towards his Ph.D. Degree in Electrical Engineering at K-State. He received his bachelor's degree from Mutah University in Jordan and in 2007 he received his Master's degree from Arizona State University (ASU). Both degrees were in electrical engineering. While at ASU, his research was primarily concerned with the design of low complexity particle filtering algorithms. Currently, Ahmad is studying wireless sensor networks (WSN) in detection applications. Specifically, he is working on the design of optimal sensor deployment strategies in WSNs. His other research interests include detection in MIMO communication systems. Ahmad has returned to Jordan to teach at a University.
Lutfa Akter
Lutfa received her bachelor's and master's degree in Electrical and Electronic engineering from Bangaldesh university of engineering and technology (BUET) in 2002 and 2004, respectively. From 2004 to 2006, she was an assistant professor of Electrical engineering at BUET. She joined the CPSWin group in Fall 2006 and is currently working on her Ph.D. degree. Her research interests include resource allocation, spectrum usage modeling and forecasting in cognitive radio networks. Lutfa enjoys (1) music; (2) shopping; (3) watching Bangla Dramas, and a good cup of Tim Horton's coffee. Lufta is now back in Bangladesh working as a Professor.
Dalin Zhu
Dalin received his B.E from School of Information Engineering, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, BUPT, in 2007. He received his master's in 2009 and perhaps will pursue a doctoral degree at Kansas State University at a later time. His research interests include space time communications, precoding in MIMO systems and OFDM/OFDMA. Dalin is now in Beijing working on advanced wireless communications with NEC.
Anirudh Radhakrishnan
Anirudh is currently pursuing his master's in Electrical and Computer Engineering at KSU and expecting to graduate by May 2009. He received his bachelor's of Technology from University of Kerala, India, in 2004. The then worked with the Embedded systems and DSP Lab at Infosys Technologies Ltd where he was associated with the multimedia team for designing and developing video codecs for hand held devices. Currently he is developing an automated crack detection algorithm for Kansas Dept of Transport. His research interest includes image registration and computer vision. Anirudh is now employed by a data encoding and analysis corporation.
Narayanan Krishnan
Narayanan received his B.Tech degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering from College of Engineering, Trivandrum in 2004. From 2004 till 2007, he was with Infosys Technologies Inc, Bangalore. At Infosys, he was associated with the product engineering department as network test engineer. His currently pursuing his master's degree at Kansas State University. His research focus for his master's work is on analysis of energy efficiency for cooperative MIMO systems. His other research interests include state estimation in networked control systems.
Rajet Krishnan
Rajet is currently into his master's in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Kansas State University. He completed his bachelor's of Technology in Electronics and Communication Engineering from College of Engineering Trivandrum in 2004. Then he worked with Infosys Technologies Limited as an engineer in their embedded systems and device driver labs till August 2006. His current research is in statistical signal processing and application of optimization theory to wireless sensor networks.
Mark Schrempp
Mark is a graduate student working towards a M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering. He received a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from Kansas State University in 2007. He joined the CPSWin group in Fall 2007. His interests include Kalman filtering, GPS, embedded systems and digital design.
Sunitha Kopparthi
Sunitha Kopparthi is currently working for her Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering at Kansas State University. She received her Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from Louisiana State University. She finished her bachelor's degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering at Andhra University, India, in 2000. Her current research is designing a flexible hardware encoder/decoder for low-density parity-check codes.
Hassan Zamat
Hassan received his bachelor's and master's degree in Electrical engineering from University of southern california. He later received his MBA degree from Califronia State University. Currently, he is working at IBM and pursuing his Ph.D. degree at K-State. His research interests are in software defined radio and cognitive radio networks.
Krithika Rajan
Krithika received her B.E degree in Electronics and Communications from Anna University in 2006. She was ranked fifth overall in her undergraduate class at Anna University. She is currently working on her M.S degree in Electrical Engineering at Kansas State University. Her research interests include image processing and signal detection and classification. She is currently working on crack detection in concrete pavements via imaging data. Her other interests include ball room dancing.
Samer L. Hizaji
Samer L. Hijazi completed his Ph.D degree in Electrical Engineering at K-state in Spring 2006. He received his M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from South Dakota State University in 2002. He received his BS degree from the University of Jordan, Amman, in Jan 2000. Samer has also worked on spectral sharing techniques using carrier interferometry at the RAWComm Laboratory, Colorado State University. In August 2003, he joined the CPSWin Group at K-state, where worked on the design of multi-user detectors for MC-CDMA systems utilizing evolutionary algorithms. Additionally, he worked as a Research Intern at PHILIPS Research Lab ,New York (summer 2005). And in the past he was an engineering intern at QUALCOMM of San Diego, CA (summer 2004). Samer is currently working in the wireless R&D division of Agere systems in Pennsylvania. Samer likes horseback riding and playing soccer.
Ali Serener
Ali Serener completed his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering at Kansas State University in Fall 2005. He received a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from The University of Kansas in 1997 and an M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Kansas State University in 2000. His current research interests are applications of low-density parity-check codes to wireless communications. Ali is currently a faculty member in the Electrical and Computer Engineering dept at Near East University in Cyprus.
Andrew Best
Andrew J. Best was born in Hutchinson, KS, on July 1, 1979. He received a B.S. in electrical engineering in 2002 from Kansas State University. He received his M.S. in electrical engineering at Kansas State University in Spring 2004. His research involved the performance analysis of carrier-interferometry OFDM/CDMA systems in the presence of narrow band and wide band jammers as well as impulse noise. Andrew currently works for Nova systems Solutions in Cincinnati, OH
Vijaya Thippavajjula
Vijaya is from Vijayawada, India, born on 31st Aug, 1980. She received her bachelor's degree from Andhra University in Electronics and Communications. She joined KSU as a graduate student in Fall - 2002 and completed her degree in Spring 2004. Vijaya's research focus was on CI/MC-CDMA systems. Her works involved the study of various interference cancellation techniques in order to improve uplink performance. Vijaya currently lives in the Bay Area and is employed at ArrayComm Inc
Justin S. Dyer
Justin S. Dyer received his B.S.E.E. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Kansas State University in 2004 and 2006, respectively. His research focus was on flexible and adaptive algorithms for DS-CDMA signature sequence generation for asynchronous systems and Bayesian sensor fusion for DS-CDMA wireless sensor networks. Other research interests include signal processing and statistical analysis of highway pavements as well as design and analysis of instrumentation for measuring pavement profiles. In 2005 he was awarded a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship based in part on the research he has done in the CPSWin Group. Justin is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Statistics at Stanford University.
Nidhi Panday
Nidhi Panday completed her bachelor's in Electronics and Instrumentation from S.G.S.I.T.S, Indore, India. She received her master's Degree at Kansas State University in Spring 2006. The focus of her work was on studying the effect of Spreading in Multi Band Ultra Wide Band systems. Nidhi is currently employed with ArrayComm Inc in San Jose, CA.
Nithya Gnanapandithan
Nithya Gnanapandithan is from Chennai, India. She received her Bacherlor's degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Madras University, India in June 2003. She completed her Master's degree in the Electrical and Computer Engineering department at Kansas State University in Fall 2005. Nithya joined the CPSWin group in August 2004 and she has been working in the Distributed sensor networks/MIMO systems area since then. Her work involves the use of Genetic Algorithms to optimize distributed sensor networks. Nithya is currently working at Relm Wireless Inc. in Lawrence, KS.

His research work focussed on the design of customized spreading codes for multi-carrier code division multiple access (MC-CDMA) communication systems. Jason Kipp
Jason Kipp was born in Topeka, KS on June 10, 1980. In May 2003, he received his B.S. in electrical engineering from Kansas State University. He earned his M.S. in electrical engineering at Kansas State University in May 2005. The research topic he explored was the peak-to-average-power ratio problem with OFDM and QAM. Currently, Jason is working for Nova Engineering in Cincinatti, OH.
Dan Romans
Dan was an honors student in Electrical Engineering who worked on sensor localization in a distributed sensor network. After completing his bachelor's degree at K-State, he is currently working for General Dynamics in Scottsdale, AZ.
