ECE welcomes new teaching faculty

Paul "Marty" Kump, teaching professor, joined the department in August 2023 from SUNY Maritime College. His expertise is in machine learning with a supporting background in signal processing. Kump is currently teaching Intro to Computer Engineering and Microcontrollers.

Austin Pfannenstiel, teaching assistant professor, has joined the department full time. He founded a successful startup, Precision Microwave, and served seven years in the U.S. Navy as a submarine officer. He is currently teaching Intro to Electrical Engineering, Electromagnetic Theory and Senior Design.

Tim Sobering, senior professor of practice, moved to the department in August 2023 from the Electronics Design Laboratory where he was its first director. He has extensive experience in precision analog circuit design, modeling, debugging, system engineering and system fabrication. Sobering is currently teaching Electronics II, Electronics Lab and Senior Design.
