I have been with the electrical & computer engineering department at Kansas State University since 2001.

I am very interested in evolutionary algorithms, swarm intelligence, multiagent models, neural networks, computational intelligence, quantum computing, and complex systems. Typical applications include genomics, power systems, sensor networks, and other areas of engineering. I have nearly 125 publications in international journals, books and conferences. My research so far has been sponsored by several major grants from NSF and one each from ONR and USDA as well as some smaller ones.

My teaching interests at the graduate level include courses in unconventional and bio-inspired computing, neural networks and pattern recognition, scientific computing. I also teach electromagnetics, and computer design courses at the undergraduate level. In the past, I have taught undergraduate level digital systems, computational intelligence and parallel processing courses also.

I am involved in the College of Engineering Diversity and Academic Standards committees, and also participate in some departmental committees and student advising.

I am from the eastern state of Orissa in India. My wife and I have one eleven year old son. I am very interested in reading (anthropology, history, linguistics, cosmology) and Indian classical music.
