ECE Curriculum Degree Maps
Beginning Fall 2026, CIS 208 - C Programming for Engineers replaces CIS 209 as the course that fulfills this curriculum requirement.
*All Biomedical and Electrical Engineering majors (regardless of curriculum) must complete CIS 209 - Computer Programming for Engineers in the C Language to meet graduation requirements.*
Degree maps provide a visual representation of curriculum requirments. They can help identify basic prerequisites and recommended semesters to complete courses.
Note: DARS is the official check for completion status of degree requirements.
Keep in mind that some classes are only offered in the fall or the spring semester. Be sure to review the Course Catalog for course descriptions, prerequisite requirements, and course rotation information. Plan ahead to ensure you have completed any required prerequisites and that your selected course is offered in the semester you plan to take it.
K-State Core Curriculum (Fall 2024 or after)
Degree maps for the K-State Core curriculum can be found on the K-State Engineering Undergraduate Degree Maps website.
All students entering K-State for Fall 2024 or after, are automatically on the K-State Core curriculum.
K-State Core Requirements
Students take courses that cover seven disciplinary areas as a part of the K-State Core requirements, which are shown on degree maps and DARS for the K-State Core curriculum. Many mandatory courses for degree requirements fulfill these criteria. Note that requirements #5 - Social & Behavioral Sciences and #6 - Arts & Humanities are required to be from two different subject areas from the approved course listing.
K-State 8 Curriculum (prior to Fall 2024)
Degree maps for the K-State 8 curriculum can be found on the K-State Engineering Undergraduate Degree Maps Archive website.
Students take courses that cover all of the K-State 8 areas. Many mandatory courses for degree requirements fulfill these criteria.
Humanities and Social Science (H&SS) Electives
Students take H&SS electives as a part of the K-State 8 curriculum. These electives are required to be courses selected from the College of Engineering's approved H&SS Electives List.
Biomedical Majors - Sensors and Devices emphasis area
CIS 209 (3 credit hours) is a substitution for CIS 200 (4 credit hours); however, the one-credit hour deficit will need to be met under technical elective requirements.
